"On Thursday, June 2 at 10 a.m., The Cohansey Area Watershed Association will host a program by Bruce Riley, Chairman of the Bridgeton Area Chamber of Commerce, who will provide an update on the work that has been done to refurbish some of the trails in the Bridgeton City Park. One of the largest city parks in the state, the Bridgeton Park is a natural woodland that provides habitat for wildlife. The program will be held at the David Sheppard House, Cousteau Institute of Marine Science, 31 West Commerce Street, Bridgeton. The program is free and open to the public."

Saturday is supposed to get up to 84 degrees in Bridgeton, which makes it a decent time to stop by the Bridgeton Splash Park for its seasonal grand opening.

The splash park is open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Attendees must bring water shoes to enter and it costs $3 per person. Discount cards are available.

--

Bridgeton City Park's mini golf course is also opening this weekend. The course includes 18 holes and admission will be free on Memorial Day. On any other day, it will cost $2 to play.

BEN welcomes Michelle Dawn Mooney to SNJ Today. Mooney will serve as lead anchor for the program.

Mooney formerly worked for NBC 40 in Atlantic City and, having been a loyal NBC 40 viewer, I can attest that she makes for a good anchor.

Cumberland County is continuing to collect complaints by South Jersey residents about Verizon and the company's alleged lack of maintenance on its copper landlines.

A petition by Cumberland County, representing 17 South Jersey communities that do not have fiber optic cables for internet, is still being put forward.

A public hearing in South Jersey between residents, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and Verizon is also pending.

If you have cooper landlines and have been having problems with them, make your complaint known by visiting www.co.cumberland.nj.us/legal.

"Good morning, everyone! I'm just putting out a reminder that we are in need of volunteers, hot dogs, rolls and bottled water for the Hooked on Books event June 4. Donations can be dropped to Bogart's Bookstore (right next to the Incredible Bulk). Please remember us when you are doing your shopping for your Memorial Day festivities, and just grab a little something extra for us! Thank you, in advance!"
