Barbara Essington writes about the 43rd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade ruling.

To the Editor:

Recently I saw a video clip of a surgeon performing an operation on a baby still in the womb, and the unborn baby reached up to put his finger on the surgeon's hand.

As we approach Friday's 43rd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court abortion decision that has resulted in the deaths of 55 million babies since 1973, I am saddened for the termination of their lives. This is an outrage, yet many celebrate it as a fundamental right.

Planned Parenthood performs more than 325,000 U.S. abortions each year, then sells aborted body parts. The organization also receives more than $500 million from taxpayers, supposedly for non-abortion services.

Arguments by pregnant women stating that "this is my body and I can do with it what I want " may seem credible, but what about the baby's life?  Shouldn't the babies have a voice? Some may say an unborn baby is just a fetus, but at what point does it become a person?

I believe the the word of God is clear, based on this Bible quote: God "...formed my inward parts...and covered me in my mother's womb.  I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:13-14.)

Friday's March for Life in Washington D.C., marking the anniversary, is a "voice for the voiceless" and a reminder to our leaders to protect the innocent unborn.

At least 6 million lives were lost during the Holocaust. Each was precious in God's sight. Legal abortion is America's holocaust -- a whole generation of potentially talented people providing skills that would have benefited our country, and would have supplied Social Security and other much needed tax revenue.

It is interesting that Norma McCorvey, the "Jane Roe" in the Roe v. Wade case, wrote a 1998 autobiography, "Won By Love," that exposes the truth about the pro-abortion camp, and how she ultimately found God's love and forgiveness.

Planned Parenthood shows its greed

To the Editor:

There are no limits to greed!

Planned Parenthood, which would more accurately be known as "Planned Non-Parenthood," has listed assets of more than $1 billion.

Last year, Planned Parenthood generated $127 million in revenue over its expenses, and received $520 million in federal tax dollars, supposedly for non-abortion purposes. These are the same hypocrites who deny a that baby in the womb is a baby, yet were caught red handed selling the body parts of those "non-children."

There can be no greater injustice than taking the life of a helpless infant. Yet, to add insult to injustice, President Barack Obama recently vetoed Affordble Care Act repeal legislation that also would have prevented our taxes from going to Planned Parenthood.

We have, in our history, denied rights to various groups, but most could at least fight back until justice was served. This is what makes abortion the most egregious act of injustice. This innocent victim has no voice. Our Declaration of Independence states "all men are created equal."  The Bill of Rights states that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process.

Today, an abortion doctor can can look at a screen as he or she takes the life of a little person while she is sucking her thumb in what should be the safest place in the world - but isn't. If the abortionists' crimes against humanity were on our TV screens like the crimes of ISIS, I like to believe we would outlaw this atrocity overnight.
