The column that says someone stole a tire off a van on Spruce Street on the south side of Bridgeton, so what do you do, lock up your tires?

--

Good afternoon!

--

"I don't know what I would do if someone drove up and donated a car.

"Can't fit it in my bucket.

"I have dealt with three different leaders doing the bell banging.

"They are ask the same question: Why no change in the bucket and how do you get the big bills?

"Simple. I use different tactics.

"Two of them have come down to see, shake their heads and go back to Bridgeton. But they smile at the results.''

"Thank you for all you did to make our 2015 season of Adopt-a-Block so great in Millville.

"Here's some highlights from our year together.

* Every block in our Center City target area was adopted and cleaned each month.

* Each month, we had between 12-20 volunteers representing five local churches and community groups. In October, we had 60 volunteers show up for our supersized clean-up and we're able to clean a larger area of Center City.

* This year was the first year we took on the care of empty lots in our target area. Every lot was mowed and cleaned at some point in 2015.

* Each month, Mike Mcniss from the Millville Streets and Roads Department partnered with us by bringing trash bags, gloves, and equipment to mow empty lots. Thanks, Mike!

* Each month, a different church and community group provided lunch for our volunteers. Thank you for doing this!

* Our vision of re-purposing empty lots was started by St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They purchased the lot across the street from their building and have cleaned it up! It looks great!

* We partnered with the Family Strengthening Network's Family Day of Service by organizing a giveaway of gently used clothing and household items for Center City families. We had 30 volunteers and served 20 families!

"Celebrate with us these great things! Again, thank you to all of you who helped make this happen! It was great working with you!

"We look forward to 2016 and the plan is to get started March 19, 2016.

"Consider joining us next year!

"Grateful for each of you.''
