"I wish to thank the kind man who stopped to help me.

"I was driving on Newcombtown Road when a cat came out of nowhere. I tried to stop, but I hit him!

"I pulled over and got out and was crying and shaking and standing over the poor baby. A man stopped and helped calm me down. He told me he loves cats, too, and has an 18-year-old cat with chronic problems, but that sometimes these things cannot be helped.

"He stayed with me until he knew I had my wits together and then he left! I just cannot thank him enough. Wish I could give him a big hug!'''

-- Thanks for stopping

"Another awesome afternoon in the village (Salem City)!

"Thank you to our awesome volunteers who join us every day to bring learning to life for our children! You are truly changing lives!''

The Housing First Model is designed to reach the smallest, most vulnerable portion of the homeless population.

Individuals are placed directly into housing, regardless of their past history or the prior issues that contributed to their homelessness whether this was substance abuse, mental illness, or economic hardship. In areas where this model has been embraced, a dramatic decrease in chronic homelessness has been reported, along with an equally dramatic savings in public dollars.

The latter benefit is directly correlated to the observation that this population is among the most frequent users of expensive, acute systems like hospitals, jails, and shelters.
