The column that says a city that wears its greatest accomplishments on its sleeve for all to see will get the recognition it deserves from others.

Good afternoon!

"Mr. Hummel,

"I wanted to update you on the progress of our Millville Midget Football program.

"After a tumultuous beginning, our program found its footing and got down to the business of winning.

"We will be compete for the TCMFL Super Bowl in 3 of 4 divisions this year, sending our Freshman 6-7, Sophomore 8-9, and Junior 10-11 teams to the Championship Game.

"Our senior division was a TD away.

"The games will be played this weekend, Dec. 5, at St Augustine Prep at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

"What makes this a particularly significant accomplishment is that in June, I was contemplating canceling the season due to not having a place to play. But here we are.''

-- Rob Ennis,

President

Millville Midget Football League

We would have taken that bet in June.

There are some people who are so dedicated to what they do that they will not be denied. We saw that last year just before the finals.

You are so darned proud of what you have accomplished with the people working with you, nothing mortal could stop you.

We know your coaches feel the same way.

You take Millville Midget Football and couple it with Millville Youth Soccer and you ride them to why Millville is a great city.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered locally by Gateway Community Action Partnership, is designed to help low-income families and individuals meet home heating and medically necessary cooling costs.

This year, the application period is Oct. 1 to April 30, 2016.

To apply for LIHEAP, contact the authorized local community action agency or community based organization in your area. For persons age 60 or over, or who are disabled, applications may be received and returned by mail. Other households may apply by mail at the discretion of the local agency.

For more information about USF/LIHEAP or to locate the nearest agency, call 1-800-510-3102.

The FFY 2016 LIHEAP application is also an application for the Universal Service Fund Program (USF), so you can apply for two benefit programs at the same time.  USF is a program created by the State of New Jersey to help make natural gas and electric bills more affordable for low-income households.
