Police and emergency rescue personnel responded to the busy intersection around 12:30 p.m., just past the Roman Pantry.
Both the driver and passenger were airlifted to hospitals for treatment.
After reportedly running the red light, the driver struck another vehicle that was traveling on South Golfwood Avenue -- an unidentified woman driving a white Dodge.
The woman was injured in the crash but declined ambulance transportation, according to authorities, and went to Christiana Medical Center by private transportation.
Police are still investigating the car accident at this time.
