PILESGROVE TWP. -- A man was taken to the hospital for serious injuries after a motor vehicle crash early Wednesday morning, New Jersey State Police said.
The accident occurred at roughly 3:30 a.m. when the unidentified man was traveling down Yorketown Road.
Police reported that the driver went off the road and struck several trees with his grey Dodge Stratus.
The driver was transported to Christiana Hospital for serious injuries, authorities said.
As of 11 a.m., the driver was still in critical condition and had surgery, according to police.

The cause of the crash is not known at this time.
Police have not released any further information on the driver and the crash remains under investigation.
