Crossing guard reportedly says man she maced dealt drugs causing relative to over dose.
PENNSVILLE TWP. -- The Salem County crossing guard arrested after allegedly macing a man in the face while off-duty is claiming she did it because he sold drugs causing a loved one to overdose, NBC10 reports.
Pennsville resident, Amy Stanley, 35, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly pulled up next to a man and asked his name before spraying mace in his face and taking off.
Stanley told NBC10 that she believed he sold heroin to a family member, which led to an overdose.
According to the report, Stanley claims the man attempted to reach into her car through the passenger side where her handbag was on the seat.
Pennsville Police said Thursday the man told authorities Stanley reached out to shake his hand first and then he was maced.
Stanley was a crossing guard in Pennsville Township, employed by the municipality, and was suspended without pay after the incident.
Stanley could not immediately be reached for comment.
