A man seeking help with cleaning and driving placed an ad signed "Sugar Daddy."

PENNSVILLE TWP. -- John Lehman only wanted help cleaning and getting around when he placed a classified ad.

But when he signed the ad "Sugar Daddy," he got some calls he wasn't expecting.

Lehman, 61, has lived in Pennsville for three years and has low vision and is basically blind.

He said Tuesday that when he placed the ad in the classified section of the Cape May County Herald, he just wanted assistance with "light cleaning" and a "driver" as needed for $20 per hour.

The ad was listed under the employment section with the title "Companion" above it.

Lehman has been advertising for help over the past couple years, and said he usually has a person who helps him from time to time, but due to circumstances, she's no longer available.

The Pennsville man continues to run the help wanted ad in hopes of someone calling.

But why did he sign the ad, which appeared last week in the Herald, "Sugar Daddy?"

Lehman said he kept getting calls from people older than him, some even with disabilities, and had hoped someone younger would respond to the ad.

"I thought maybe with a younger person it would catch their attention," Lehman explained.

However, Lehman kept getting calls from people looking for a sugar daddy.

"Some of the responses were more about wanting to have a sugar daddy, and then there was still people calling who were very elderly," he continued.

Lehman has since changed the ad to say "Call Jim" for work.
