Air Force Junior ROTC Unit receives Distinguished Unit Award

Unit NJ-20004 at Salem County Vocational-Technical High School has been selected as one of 317 united to receive the 2015-2016 Air Force Junior ROTC Distinguished United Award.

This award recognizes Air Force JROTC united that have performed above and beyond normal expectations, and that have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to their school and community while meeting the Air Force JROTC mission of producing better citizens for America.

The objectives of the JROTC program are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship and life skills; promote community service; instill responsibility, character and self-discipline through character education, and to provide instruction in air and space fundamentals. Enrollment is open to all young people who are in the 9th to 12th grade and are enrolled at the Salem County Vo-tech.

Unit NJ-20004 at Salem County Vo-Tech is an active JROTC and has competed in drill competitions, participated in parades throughout the county, placed flags at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery for Memorial Day and Veterans Day, just to name a few.

Air Force JROTC is located in 870 high schools across the United States and at selected schools in Europe, in the Pacific, and in Puerto Rico. JROTC enrollment includes more than 120,000 cadets.
