Now that the turmoil over crafting a new county budget is over and privatization of the county's 911 center and the jail nursing staff is behind us -- for this year -- attention will now likely turn to what to do about the state Superior Court's need for more space. A new courthouse? How many millions of dollars? Sure we'll be hearing more soon.

Plans are under way for the annual Woodstown Fourth of July Parade on Monday, July 4. Charles M. Saul Jr. has been chosen as the 2016 parade marshal. The Salem City Market is every Friday now from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on West Broadway. Veggies, food and some surprises await visitors. Ending date, though, is July 29.

The Salem County Fair isn't that far away -- Aug. 9 to 12. Entrants are already being sought for the Salem County Fair Queen Pageant which will be held Aug. 9 and also a new contest this year, Little Miss Salem County Fair Queen, which will be held Aug. 10. Applications for both contests are now available on the official fair website at www.salemcountyfair.com.

Here's someone who's lucky. A customer who stopped by the Pilesgrove Sunoco at 843 U.S. Route 40 won $15,000 in May with an Instant Bingo scratch-off New Jersey Lottery ticket. That's according to an official New Jersey lottery release.

The Salem County Mosquito Control Department will hold an open house Thursday, June 30, at his headquarters at 900 Route 45 in Mannington Township (the site of the old Lakeview Complex). The event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. will help educate the public about what the department does locally to battle mosquitoes and the diseases they can spread. Visitors will be able to tour the department's facilities, meet the staff and learn how to control mosquito populations around their own home. The open house is being held during National Mosquito Awareness Week.
