Heriberto Garcia, of Pennsville, was arrested Thursday afternoon following the investigation of a reported sexual assault of a child that occurred Sept. 1, according to police.
CARNEYS POINT TWP. -- A 74-year-old South Jersey man was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a 7-year-old, authorities said.

Police responded at 4:37 on Sept. 1 to a Carneys Point residence to investigate an alleged sexual assault.

Following the investigation, police arrested and charged Garcia with aggravated sexual assault, sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.
Garcia was arrested on a warrant, processed and held at the Salem County Correctional Facility in default of $250,000 bail.
Further information on the assault was not provided by police.
