Luis Perez writes that the Assembly is engaged in a waste of time of the Spam, eggs and Spam variety.
To the Editor:
On May 11, I was listening to NJ101.5 (WKXW-FM) radio. The show hosts were talking about how our state Assembly members waste our tax dollars by making useless legislation.
The hosts were discussing two different bills by the same sponsor (Tim Eustace, D-Bergen) dealing with naming a state sandwich. One bill uses the term "pork roll sandwich," while the other calls it a "Taylor ham sandwich."
This makes me mad when these legislators get about $50,000 a year to sit around and waste our dollars while our roads and bridges are deteriorating.
The cost of building one mile of road in New Jersey has to be close to the most expensive in the world. One study estimated it at $2 million, while the average among the states is about $700,000.
Our legislators are wasting our time debating over the name of a state sandwich. We need to get rid of so many of these legislators.
