Here are some more thoughts from students at the Dorothy R. Bullock School.
Editor's note: Today's letters were all written by third-grade students in Patti Paulsen's class at the Dorothy R. Bullock School in Glassboro:

You might think that kids do not need pets but let me tell you, kids NEED pets! This is what a kid sounds like if they do not have a pet: "Mom, can I have a dog?" "Everyone else has a pet in class but me!"
This can get very annoying, but that happened to me and my sister once. Our dog Stoner ran away, so we were telling my mom and dad that we really needed a pet. A couple of days later my sister went online and found one. We all loved it and a couple of months later we got the dog.
Kids also need pets because when they get home and are done their homework they get very, very bored! Pets really are unstoppable to play with.
Pets also help kids learn how to be responsible, because they have to feed a pet and keep it clean, hydrate it and keep it healthy. It can be a lot of work!
Pets keep kids from being lonely. If a child does have a pet, the child will have a forever friend. It's really crazy how much your pet will love you. If you get a dog, sometimes it might wag its tail all day long.
So, there are many reasons why kids should have a pet!

Do you get bored of 180 (annual) days of school?
If you wen to school for 18 years, that would be 3,240 days! If you go to summer school, it's even more days. And, some families like to go on vacation in May.
As you go up in the higher grades, you cannot miss too many school days. One solution would be to make the school day a little longer, so the year could be a little shorter. This way, instead of getting out in mid June, we could get out in May or even April.
Some schools don't have air conditioning. That's another reason that school should let out earlier in the year.
The next time you think about 180 days of school, how about we cut one month off and start summer vacation early? This will make everyone happy.

"Mom, do I have to do chores?"
"Aww, Come on!"
These are the thoughts of kids who are lazy and don't want to do chores. I think that kids need to do more chores.
I think they need to do more chores because their parents won't need to clean up the house after they come home from work.
All kids these days want is money. My solution is that when kids do their chores, they should get money. When they don't their chores, they shouldn't get money.
Adults, when kids do chores they turn out to be great adults.

Writing is 40 minutes a day, which ends up to be 7,200 minutes a year!
It's just too long! It's also right before recess and lunch. Plus, my hand gets really tired.
Recess is my favorite part of school and lunch is my second favorite.
If my hand gets tired from too much writing, I can't play football outside at recess.
My solution is to ask (Bullock School Principal) Rich Taibi for less writing time.
