Patti Jarozynski writes in support of Sen. Sanders' candidacy.
To the Editor:
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is an independent U.S. senator who is using the system to change the system.
Sanders voted against immigration reform that would have increased the number of low-wage immigrant workers in this country, further burdening our already stressed welfare and educational systems. He also voted against a bill that would have allowed victims of gun violence to sue gun manufacturers, which would have resulted in more companies and manufacturing moving out of this country.
Sanders is not some crazy, communist, socialist liberal. The greatest growth and prosperity for everyone in this country happened under policies that addressed income inequality and a more equitable tax system. We built the Hoover Dam, Mount Rushmore, the national highway system, the skyscrapers of New York and the bridges of California, and we sent men to the moon.
We can do great things again. We can fix our roads and bridges. We can build high-speed rail and transition to green energy. We can create millions and millions of good paying jobs again. This is not fantasy.
Sanders supporters are not uniformed, we are not unrealistic, and we can change the system.
Don't just #feelthebern, #BETHEBERN.
