UPPER PITTSGROVE TWP. -- A walk near a Salem County lake resulted in a surprise for a couple.
New Jersey State Police said the pair discovered an assortment of jewelry on Jan. 9 near the body of water off Daretown Road in Upper PIttsgrove Township.
The couple gathered up the jewelry and brought it to the state police's Woodstown Station.
"At this time, we don't know if this jewelry was lost or stolen," said a post on the state police Facebook page.
"What we do know is that jewelry often holds sentimental value, passed down through generations or given as a gift by a loved one."
A photograph posted by state police shows 10 pieces of jewelry ranging from wrist watches to gold chains, pendants and even an ornate pocket watch on a chain.
