"On Saturday the Fairfield Township Committee led by Mayor Ben Byrd, held an Easter egg hunt for the children of the Township. Ninety children participated in two categories: 3-to-6 and 7-to-12 years and over 900 eggs were quickly found. Raffles distributed filled Easter baskets and special eggs held money donated by the committee as well. The township's fire trucks and ambulance were at the municipal building for the children to see, the Easter bunny made a surprise visit and music and dancing was provided by DJ Tommy Clark (also a committeeman). It was a beautiful day and great time was had by all."

"Marianna, adopted from the SPCA.
"Her harness was too loose and she got out of it when her adopter took her to PetSmart. Several strangers were looking for her since. They did all they could and had saw her several times but she was scared and ran. Today, March 29, someone hit her on Route 55 at exit 26.
"They didn't stop. It is against the law in NJ.
"Motorist hitting domestic animal to stop; report each person operating a motor vehicle who shall knowingly hit, run over, or cause injury to a cat, dog, horse or cattle shall stop at once, ascertain the extent of injury, report to the nearest police station, police officer, or notify the nearest Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and give his name, address, operator's license and registration number, and also give the location of the injured animal.
"When we get a furbaby, we are to protect and take care of them just like our human kids. Rest in peace sweet girl. Many thanks to Robin Bundy, Brandon, Kay Benoit, Lynda Evrenoglou."

"March 26 1966: We hit the Mekong delta, 0230 the Navy feed us steak and egg before we went it. It has been a thing we do every March 26, have steak and egg for breakfast. This year a few of us went to Gettysburg for a little get together and had it there. One evening a buddy and I went to the General Pickett buffet. While eating a young couple came and thanked us for our service and ask about the Nam war. When we went to check out the lady at cash box said our tab had been picked up. I was shocked. Nothing like that ever happened to me before. I was totally stymied."

Everyone should go to Gettysburg at one point in their life. I've been there a bunch of times, most recently for the 150th anniversary, and it truly is beautiful.
The buffet Shep went to isn't bad either.

March 29 was also Vietnam Veterans Day, which makes Shep's bill being paid all the more appropriate. It just goes to show that the smallest gestures can mean a lot. And, to be fair, such kindness shouldn't just be saved for one day.
