WOODSTOWN -- Four Salem County residents will be honored Sept. 17 for the foresight and leadership they have shown in the creation and success of Friends Village at Woodstown.
Frank and Betty Crane, Carlton Gardiner and Alice Waddington will be the recipients of this year's Friends Village Visionary Awards, CEO Daniel Murray announced. They will be honored during the community's annual Anniversary Celebration planned for Sept. 17 on the Friends Village campus just off Route 40 east of Woodstown.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the conversion effort which created Friends Village, the only continuing care retirement community in New Jersey's five southernmost counties. The mission to help older adults with housing and health care choices was established almost 120 years ago by the Quaker meetings of the Salem Quarter.
"As we look forward to the challenges of enhancing our community, we want to acknowledge the visionary people who helped to get us this far," said Murray. "Celebrating the contributions of Alice, Carlton, Frank and Betty is most appropriate. This is also an opportunity to rededicate ourselves to supporting Friends Village for its leadership in senior care and independence for over a century."
The celebration will be from 5 to 8 p.m. and tickets are now on sale. Cost for the evening celebration is $25 a person and the reservation deadline is Sept. 10. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Friends Village website, friendsvillage.org, or by calling Mary Lou Frank at 856-769-1500.
Friends Village at Woodstown is a non-profit retirement community that offers independent and assisted living choices, skilled nursing, short-term and outpatient rehabilitation services to older adults.
