PENNSVILLE TWP. -- A South Jersey man was found in possession of nearly 500 bags of heroin after a police investigation in Pennsville Township, Chief Allen Cummings said Wednesday.
Two days before Christmas, Hassein A. Ferrell, 25, of Salem, was driving in the area of Carroll Avenue, authorities said.
Police received information that Ferrell was in possession of a large quantity of drugs and was stopped by authorities around 7:12 p.m., according to Cummings.
After further investigation, police found 499 bags of heroin and five bags of crack cocaine with Ferrell in his car, resulting in his arrest.
Authorities estimate the street value to be $2,500.
Police charged Ferrell with possession of heroin, crack cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute.
Police continue to probe into South Jersey burglaries
Ferrell is being held at the Salem County Correctional Facility, in Mannington Township, in default of $75,000 bail.
