Good afternoon!

D. Renee Brecht's moving to Greenwich was Millville's loss, even though she is a big part of the entire county.
Millville is debating switching government from Walsh to Faulkner.
In the middle of the rockets' red glare and shots across the bow, Brecht comes out with these words:
"David (Ennis), what needs to be understood is that passing the resolution doesn't bind people into a change. They will have time to learn and decide and vote. This creates that avenue.
"Even people (who are open government advocates) and people from Rutgers government services and the Rand Institute feel that this is by far not only one of the least effective forms of municipal government, but also doesn't adequately represent the voter demographics.
"It's an effort that some people in the city have been advocating for for at least a decade.
"As Jim's (Quinn's) seat is vacated and city government squeals to a halt, serious flaws with Walsh will become increasingly evident.
"Change is hard for a lot of people, so it's imperative that this is understood as an opportunity to explore options, to make sure you've got what really works best for your city. There is no harm in exploring options.''

If she moved back to Millville, Renee and D. Bailey Miles could finish 1-2 in a city election.

"Hey, guys,
"Watch this link that aired locally in Frederick County and Western Maryland on the 5 p.m. news tonight.
"I got WHAG to come to a kickoff event that I helped to coordinate.
"It's the first of its kind: Students in all Health classes K-12 will have the opportunity to create their own 30-second video on drug abuse awareness; lots of cool prizes; and sponsorships from all over Maryland totaling $3,000.
"The winning entries (nine of them) will be aired on Comcast here locally during coverage of ESPN events throughout the spring.
"The first of the nine entries will air on March 2. Unfortunately, we will miss the Super Bowl, but I thought it was cool that Comcast is going to use these as Public Service Announcements in conjunction with the local Sheriff's Department.
"I got our superintendent of schools to speak along with a local city council member and the Frederick County sheriff, with the addition of the local health officer of the Frederick County Health Department.
"I also got students of all ages to travel to Walkersville High School this morning to be in the audience for Dr. Alban's address and press conference.
"Really cool stuff. Check out this link.

Sounds like a road trip is needed.

Have you ever noticed that a lot of people in important positions don't speak out on important issues -- and never ask for help for fear of looking weak.
When is the last time an official threw up his hands and said we've got a heroin epidemic sweeping our area and we need help from you to get rid of it?
"Come see me!''

The Klawitter family's "Peace Sign Wreath" was selected as the Best of Show entry in the 2015 wreath contest that the City of Millville's Recreation Department and Taking Back Millville recently held. The wreath has many size and color ornaments on it. Very well put together wreath and very colorful!
New Hope United Methodist Church wreath was selected for the Best Group Award and Sheppard Bus Service has been awarded the Best Business Prize.
There were 33 wreaths entered into this years' contest. A picture of each wreath was taken and a poll was created. Little over 1,000 votes were cast. The wreath that received the most votes was Sherry Rovani's.
Ms. Rovani will receive the People's Choice Award for her large snowman.
The City of Millville and Taking Back Millville would like to thank all the participants. Because of their entries $330 has been donated to the M25 Initiative for Cumberland County.
The winners will receive their awards at the next City of Millville Commission Meeting that will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 6:30 p.m., on the 4th floor of Millville City Hall.
For more information, contact the Millville Recreation Department at 856-825-7000, ext. 7394.

MY KIND OF TOWN: Where if you're not going to get out there and vote, why would you bother to get out and be involved?
